Just seven weeks before the election, Hillary Rodham Clinton will release a book called "Something Lost, Something Gained: Reflections on Life, Love, and Liberty," which is billed as "Hillary like you haven't seen her before."
- The publisher, Simon & Schuster, says she'll offer a "warning to all American voters," along with "her unvarnished views on politics, democracy, the threats we face, and the future within our reach."
Why it matters: I'm told it's a "very personal" book that includes the former secretary of state's reflections on marriage, friendships and getting over losing.
What they're saying: The book, coming Sept. 17, "reads like you're sitting down with your smartest, funniest, most passionate friend over a long meal," says Priscilla Painton, Simon & Schuster editor-in-chief.
- Painton calls Clinton "candid, engaged, humorous, self-deprecating — and always learning."
The announcement says Clinton, 76, will "describe the strength she draws from her deepest friendships, her Methodist faith, and the nearly fifty years she's been married to President Bill Clinton":
- "She takes us along as she returns to the classroom as a college professor, enjoys the bonds inside the exclusive club of former first ladies, moves past her dream of being president, and dives into new activism for women and democracy."
- The book includes "new personal insights about her old adversary Vladimir Putin, and ... the best ways that worried parents can protect kids from toxic technology."
Clinton, represented by Robert Barnett of Williams & Connolly, plans a promotional tour that includes D.C., Seattle, Boston, San Francisco and Chicago.
