Exclusive: Chaos Industries scoops up Atropos Group

Driving the news: Atropos co-founder Colin Carroll, formerly of Applied Intuition and Anduril Industries, was named Chaos' chief growth officer. Vince Dutcavich, another co-founder, is leading Chaos' new aerospace division.

• "You'll see the pairing of sensors, effectors and autonomous platforms — this is the future, in my opinion," Carroll told Axios.
• The focus, he added, is "on very pragmatic weapon systems. So, not the coolest thing. Not the sexiest thing. Not the best-engineered thing. But the shit that actually works."

The intrigue: Chaos is rarely in the news despite its equipment being used across Eastern Europe and the Middle East. It's currently pumping out 40 radars a month, with eyes on 100 a month by the end of the summer.

Follow the money: Financial details of the acquisition were not disclosed.

• Chaos was valued north of $4 billion when it raised $510 million in November. It's secured a total of $1 billion, with backers including 8VC, Accel Partners and Valor Equity Partners.
• "We're not raising until we're raising," Tenet said. "There's a lot of inbound, always."

What's next: The company is on the hunt for additional manufacturing space. It has hundreds of thousands of square feet in El Segundo, California, at the moment.
