Verizon taps PayPal's Josh Criscoe for comms leadership role

The big picture: Criscoe joins at the end of November after more than a decade at PayPal, most recently serving as VP of corporate communications.

• At PayPal, he led crisis, financial, M&A, risk and transformation communications and developed strategies for PayPal's brands, including Venmo.
• Earlier in his career, he advised companies on reputation management and crisis communications at Brunswick and APCO.

Zoom in: Criscoe will report directly to Franz Paasche — PayPal's former corporate affairs chief — and join his leadership team.

• Criscoe's direct reports will include Adria Tomaszewski, associate VP of consumer communications; Sarah Heinz, senior director of business communications; and Aimee Knox, senior director of network and technology communications.

What they're saying: In an internal memo, Paasche said the new structure is designed to create "closer collaboration and synergies" across Verizon's communications teams and strengthen their strategic impact.

• "I'm excited to join Verizon at a moment of transformation, both for a great company and for how people live, work and connect," said Criscoe.
