Spurs name DAZN new streaming home

The Spurs on Wednesday announced a new media partnership with DAZN, a major sports streaming platform.

Why it matters: The deal gives Spurs fans a single streaming destination for all games that aren't exclusively nationally broadcast, marking a major shift in how local fans watch the team in the upcoming season.

How it works: DAZN will also stream all preseason games and team-produced programming, like pre- and post-game shows.

The service will be available throughout the Spurs' home broadcast market, covering Central, South and West Texas.
A monthly pass will cost $19.99, while a season pass will cost $119.99. Spurs season ticket members will get 20% off season passes.
Fans will also have access to a free seven-day trial.

Yes, but: DAZN won't carry every game.

Some national games will remain with the NBA's national media partners.

The big picture: The deal follows years of frustration among Spurs fans navigating a patchwork of viewing options — and the shutdown of FanDuel Sports Network, the team's primary local broadcaster.

Zoom out: DAZN will also carry select Spurs Sports & Entertainment programming, including San Antonio FC matches and Austin Spurs games.

What's next: The subscription service is expected to launch in the coming weeks.

The Spurs will also offer 22 games free over the air through a local broadcast partner, with details about the station and schedule still to come.
