New, super generous summer happy hours are popping up all over D.C.
State of play: Summer is notoriously slow for restaurants. Deep discounts and specials help get customers in the door.
What's new: Homemade pastas, filthily cheap martinis…
🍝 Cucina Morini (Downtown): Morini Mondays mean $10 primi-sized pastas, plus those popular $7 martinis at the bar. All-night Monday
🥂 Lobby Bar (Capitol Hill): The Hill's new haunt is slinging $1 oysters, $10 spicy Sauvy Bs — it's a thing — and $31 "very happy meals," with fries, a smash burger, chicken sammy or nuggets, plus a glass of Veuve. Weekdays, 3-6pm
🥪 Ceibo (Adams Morgan): The upscale Latin spot's chefs return to their Fast Gourmet roots (RIP) with chivitos, Cubanos and other addictive sandwiches for happy hour, plus drink deals and bar bites. All-night Monday
🇮🇳 Tapori (H Street): Daru has one of the best happy hours in town. Its new sister spot joins in with $8 wines and martinis, and snacks under $10 like crispy spiced cauliflower and kulcha flatbreads. Weekdays, 5-6:30pm
🌼 Nina May (Shaw): Hit the pergola-covered patio for treats like gruyere grilled cheese ($11) and $12 summery cocktails — think raspberry highballs and fruit margaritas. Tues-Fri, 5-6:30pm
🦀 Lucky Danger (Penn Quarter): Tim Ma's new Chinese-American restaurant dishes up $7 apps like crab rangoons, $15 entrees (e.g. mmm, ma po tofu), $8 Singapore slings and other cocktails. Tues-Sat, 4:30-6pm
🍸Aventino (Bethesda): The Roman-style trattoria gets in the cheap martini game with a lineup of $8 dirties, espressos, cosmos, etc., plus wines and snacks like risotto fritters. Daily, 5-6:30pm, bar only
Editor's note: This story has been corrected to reflect that Cucina Morini (not Osteria Morini) is offering a Monday happy hour deal with $10 primi pastas.
